I absolutely love documenting daily life in my journals, celebrating nature, planning out exciting goals and reflecting on the world around me. I embrace a wide range of creative styles in my journals, usually alongside my rambling thoughts and reflections.
I am an author, Patreon creator, online teacher and product designer. I didn’t really think of myself as creative until I found my ‘thing’ – creative journaling - and began my blog Journal with Purpose.
The freedom and lack of rules made journal-keeping the perfect hobby for me and creativity has now become a very important part of my everyday life, leading to a whole new wonderful career path.

What does Art is Magic mean to you?
It means being open to new creative adventures and learning. You never know where your art might take you and the wonderful people that you could meet along the way.
What is currently inspiring you?
I am continuously inspired by everything to do with nature. I love noticing the tiny changes every day and find huge comfort in the rhythm of the seasons. I love finding new ways to celebrate nature in my art journals, whether that be detailed drawings, using the colour palettes I see on my daily walks or finding inspiration in the pattern of bark on a tree.
How do you keep your creative practice fresh and inspired?
I consider myself a continual learner and always look to expose myself to new teachers, books and experiences. These all help to bring something new to my creative practice. I keep a little notebook with me at all times, so that I can jot down quick ideas as and when they pop into my head. It’s also a great place to make a quick sketch of something I’ve found inspiring that I can later take into my art.
What do you wish you had known at the beginning of your creative journey?
I wish I had known that growth would come in the most unexpected ways. There is no need to follow the crowd, following your curiosities and interests is the best way of developing your own unique style and skills.
Throughout most of my life, I didn’t consider myself to be creative at all. I found sketchbooks extremely intimidating and any creative projects that I tried as an adult just didn’t seem to turn out as I had hoped. Starting a creative journal was the key to unlocking my route to becoming an artist. It felt like rules didn’t apply and that I could just experiment freely, allowing myself to develop and grow both in skills and confidence.
