Supply List
6-8 personal photos you like...we will choose 2 for our paintings (or more, if you want to combine images)...I have included my reference photos for you to paint the projects along with me before you try it out with your own photos.
drawing paper and pen for planning
2 substrates of your choosing...I use 350 lb. Strathmore Heavyweight Mixed Media Paper cut into 2 sizes; 8x8 and 8x10 inches.
soft charcoal pencil and a piece of vine charcoal
acrylic paints...for the first painting I use a simple palette of cadmium red medium hue, cadmium yellow medium hue, phthalo blue (green shade), titanium white, carbon black, and fluid azo gold; for the second painting I use quinacridone crimson, cadmium yellow medium hue, prussian blue, titanium white, fluid azo gold, and fluid titanium white. I use the azo gold for "drawing" my subjects onto my substrate and for some shadows. I chose 2 different primary groups to demonstrate the different array of colors you can get from each group, but you can just use one of the primary groups for both paintings, or use paint colors you prefer.
fluid matte (or gloss) medium to help the paints flow and create some translucency.
paintbrushes...I use a variety of sizes starting large and working down to smaller detail brushes...specifically #16 bright, #8 bright, #4 filbert, #2 round, #3/0 round
palette and palette knife
