All My Mothers - Art Journal as Altar
Each time I show up to the blank page or canvas it is to listen. Sometimes I come with an inquiry, sometimes I come just to see what wants to be heard, either way a dialogue unfolds and it is through this dialogue that I create art, that I commune with spirit, that I meet myself. Without this dialogue, this backwards and forwards dance of listening and responding, my art practice lacks meaning and my life wouldn't be as rich. There is no separation between my life, my spiritual practice and my art practice, all are entwined in this beautiful conversation when I stay open to all the questions and all of the whispering. My art practice is a liberating act that allows me to access my deeper wisdom and knowing- my bone wisdom.
So when I speak of art journal as altar, this is what I am speaking of- a place to hold conversations and relationships, to listen, to commune and for this workshop it will be with our ancestors & lineage, whether direct or not, that we commune at the blank page.

The Format:
We will be creating an art journal as altar, a place to commune with the ancestors, whether blood or not, who dwell in our hearts and lead the way. We will use our creative practice as a container to allow spirit to slip betwixt & between. whispering to us.

At the end of this workshop you will have rekindled a dialogue with your ancestors and lineage that supports you. You will be allowing the spaces in the intuitive creative process to allow spirit to talk with you. You will deepen your deep listening to spirit & soul through your creativity.
This workshop is process oriented although I will guide you with some techniques to play with and many demonstrations of my own process as it is in the moment, moment to moment, fluid, showing up, intentional creativity. It is a creative journey, an ever unfolding journey.
Cathartic and healing. Combining my artistic practice with ancestor work was just the thing necessary to get started (problematic family of origin kept me from beginning). It gave me the nudge to work on my family tree and get a DNA test as well!
